The Chinese new year 2014, also known the the Chinese lunar new year is a very important part of Chinese tradition. Every year many festivities and parties are thrown and have dinner together with family also known as Chú Xī. This amazing tradition is passed down from generation to generation among family members, and becomes remembered throughout the years til the next Chinese New Year.

 

In China, many times the people will celebrate with dragon dances, or lion dances which will soon be followed by a lot of fireworks, which is where fireworks actually was created. Many doors and windows will be adorned or decorated with red and yellow paper, which is highly used to promote wealth and longevity in your family.

 

Food is lavishly made during the Chinese New Year 2014. Duck, pig, boar, chicken and cows are often the main course of the meals, followed by a sweet dessert. This dinner is spent alongside family members, and this tradition lives on to get rid of the bad memories in the past, and bring in a new beautiful new year.

 

As you celebrate the Chinese new year 2014 remember what matters most, family. In traditional China, early the next morning, family members greet each other and wishing them a healthy and a very happy Chinese new year.

 

Chinese New Year 2014 Mythology

 

The story behind the Chinese New Year first started with a great fight between a monster called Nian. This large monster would come very new year to eat livestock, crops, villagers, and even children. To defend against this giant creature, villagers would gather food in front of their door steps for Nian to eat, and it was said that he would eat the food and no longer eat livestock from the Chinese farmers. Chinese children would also wear red to prevent being eaten by the monstrous creature, because Nian feared the color red. This was done every Chinese new year to prevent the monster from coming back, but was eventually captured by a monk.
