The lantern festival consists of family visits and feasts in which the family brings special dishes to share celebrating the New Year Eve. The lantern festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month. The celebration is given away by it’s name. Chinese lanterns are created and decorated with animals and placed up.
The highlight of the festival is what is called, “The Dragon Dance.” The dragon, which can stretch upwards of a couple hundred feet, is made with bamboo, silk and paper. Because of the way the dragon is said to move, celebrated dance moves is a zigzag pattern from Chinese New Year 2012.
